Exciting Opportunity at MSK: At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, operational excellence is critical to delivering world-class cancer care. We are seeking a Manager, Perioperative Support Services to provide hands-on leadership across perioperative support operations, including surgical support assistants and logistics associates.
In this highly visible role, you will share responsibility with fellow support services managers while working closely with the logistics team, central processing, utilities, facilities, nurse leaders, surgeons, and operational leadership. You will ensure that surgical cases run on time, accurately, and without disruption, with the right equipment, supplies, and environmental conditions in place throughout the day and evening.
Key Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in perioperative services, surgical operations, healthcare logistics, or hospital support services
Demonstrated experience managing support staff, including surgical support assistants and logistics associates
Strong technical and operational knowledge of perioperative environments, equipment, and workflows
Proven ability to ensure uninterrupted surgical operations through effective staffing, inventory, and equipment readiness
Experience collaborating with Central Processing, facilities/utilities, and clinical leadership
Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting with multiple priorities and stakeholders
Role Overview:
Oversees the team of surgical support staff and logistics personnel; fills in for logistics leadership when needed
Ensures surgical cases are completed accurately and on time across the day
Responsible for ensuring the Perioperative environment of care is adequately maintained and prepared to support aseptic procedures
You will encourage engagement, accountability, and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams in a technically complex perioperative environment.
Ensures surgical instruments, materials, and environments are prepared, functional, and accurate for each case (including lasers, robotics, and specialized equipment)
Oversees replenishment of inventory and prevents case delays or disruptions
Ensures efficient task completion and staffing coverage throughout all shifts
Works seamlessly with surgeons, nurse leaders, CPD, logistics, utilities, and facilities teams
Core Skills:
Ability to guide and encourage teams with a positive, engaging leadership style.
Strong perioperative operational and technical expertise, including oversight of surgical equipment and specialized technologies (e.g., lasers, robotics).
Experience managing inventory, supplies, staffing, and workflows to prevent delays and support efficient operations.
Proven track record to collaborate effectively with teams across MSK
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and quickly address operational challenges.
Knowledge of regulatory, safety, and environmental standards within perioperative settings.
